The community-led Local Development Company is pioneering the use of Internet of Things (IoT) applications for use by community groups, charities and sports clubs. They are using technologies such as facial recognition so that volunteers don’t have to be physically present to open and close venues. Remote sensors can also track whether lights have been switched off and doors properly locked.
